Acculynk Bringing PIN Entry Solution to Mobile Payments

From NFCNews.com
Acculynk has announced that it is bringing its PaySecure Internet PIN debit system to smart phones early this year. The Atlanta-based company says PaySecure Mobile will enable consumers to authenticate their mobile transactions by entering their bank-issued PIN on Acculynk’s graphical, scrambling PIN-pad, which has been specially designed for mobile smart phone platforms.  Acculynk first introduced PaySecure for PIN debit payments on the Internet in 2009, but the growing prevalence of mobile transactions coupled with merchant demand prompted Acculynk to extend the program to smart phones, says the company. “We were approached by major merchants last year wanting to know how PaySecure would fit with their developing mobile channels, so we started work on a mobile application,” said Ashish Bahl, CEO of Acculynk. “After several months of development, we’ll be ready to launch PaySecure mobile in Q1 2011, allowing our merchants and partners to benefit from higher security in not just one but two major purchasing channels.” PaySecure Mobile is built on the same encryption and authentication platform Acculynk uses for its Internet PIN debit product, which today is supported by 9 U.S. EFT networks and implemented on over 1,000 U.S. merchant websites. Acculynk says it is looking to develop new applications for PaySecure in the coming year, including money transfer, Peer to Peer (P2P) authentication, online banking authentication, and PIN debit entry on a kiosk.
PaySecure Mobile will be available on the iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows-7 platforms. [end]

RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DeviceFidelity, Inc. today announced that its market leading microSD based In2Pay™ technology for plug and play mobile contactless transactions is now available for the Android mobile phone operating system, in addition to BlackBerry, iPhone, Windows and Symbian platforms. Some of the largest banks and payment networks, in the U.S. and worldwide, are trialing the In2Pay solution on a wide variety of smart phone models already. DeviceFidelity has integrated support for mass personalization, Trusted Services Management (TSM) and multi-application mobile wallet software with its growing list of smart card makers, personalization bureaus and application development partners.
“The microSD approach is a compelling means of providing next generation capabilities to current generation handsets.”
Android is the second most popular mobile phone operating system with 25.5% global market share, up from 3.5% last year, according to Gartner Research. In the U.S., Android leads the market with a 44 percent share, followed by Apple and RIM.
Mobile payment using the DeviceFidelity In2Pay solution is compatible with most Android OS based devices popular in the US, Europe and Asia, including handsets from Samsung, LG, HTC, Sony Ericsson and Huawei. As part of its support for Android, DeviceFidelity is also releasing a simple, easy to use application programming interface (API) for the Android platform that will enable a variety of mobile NFC applications, such as mobile payment wallet, enhanced mobile banking, Over the Air (OTA) provisioning, MiFare read and write, as well as couponing and loyalty.
The flexibility of the In2Pay solution for Android allows issuers and wireless carriers the choice of either using existing third party applications or developing their own custom applications for mobile contactless transactions. As a wide range of creative new applications are developed around the In2Pay platform, end users will have a choice of utilities and functions they can use with their In2Pay enabled mobile device.
“With a well defined application marketplace, and a steadily increasing user base, Android is an ideal platform for the In2Pay solution, allowing us to combine the openness of the Android OS with the flexibility of In2Pay,” said Amitaabh Malhotra, Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of DeviceFidelity. “Delivering solutions for the smart phone operating systems that users prefer is part of our commitment to help expand the availability of mobile NFC transactions around the world.”

DeviceFidelity also is announcing the availability of the In2Pay DFare Javacard API and applet that enables mobile phone applications and TSM platforms to read and write to the MiFare portion of the In2Pay MicroSD. This allows remote download, remote management and remote top-up of mobile transit applications as well as other value added services such as couponing, physical access control and identification on all supported smart phone platforms, including Android.
“By enabling open loop mobile payment application on popular smart phone platforms, we have been spearheading the emergence of the microSD platform as a key market mover towards commercial launches of NFC,” says Deepak Jain, CEO and co-founder of DeviceFidelity. "Now we plan to bring the vision of a true mobile wallet even closer to reality as smart phone wallets enabled by our In2Pay microSD would now be able to contain not only credit/debit/prepaid cards but also transit cards, coupons, company access badge and your health club membership as well. This will enable the industry to create highly compelling business models for mobile transactions and thereby realize the full potential of NFC.”

Novo Dia Group to Develop iPhone Multi-Payment Processing Solution for EBT/WIC

NDG Mobile Market™ will enable farmers markets in Michigan to process WIC EBT CVB, plus credit and debit transactions.

Novo Dia Group (NDG), in coordination with the Michigan Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program, has announced a pilot project to develop the first iPhone solution in the country to support the Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) WIC program for the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables. The new application, called NDG Mobile Market™, allows authorized farmers markets to process WIC EBT Cash Value Benefit (CVB) transactions. In addition, the iPhone solution will enable these vendors to process credit and debit transactions.

NDG Mobile Market™ will support the Michigan WIC EBT Program, recently named “Project of the Year” by the Electronic Funds Transfer Association. This farmers market project began in 2009 when the Michigan WIC EBT Program recognized the need to improve their clients’ access to fresh produce available at various farmers markets across the state.
With these goals in mind, the solution being developed by the NDG Mobile Market pilot project is designed to provide the following benefits for vendors and WIC clients:
  • Greater payment flexibility with a choice of WIC EBT benefit cards, cash, debit or credit transactions.

  • Support for approved farmers markets to provide WIC clients with the option to use their WIC EBT card for CVB.

  • Increased payment efficiency for both the state and the farmers market vendors.

  • Improved payment options for farmers markets through the ability to use the multi-purpose iPhone where a dedicated terminal device is not available.

  • Support for WIC EBT CVB transactions in accordance with USDA regulations.

“We’re proud to help provide the next generation of technology solutions for the WIC community,” said Josh Wiles, Senior Partner of NDG. “We look forward to finding new ways our solutions can address the unique needs of today’s government agencies and the clients they serve.”
Mr. Wiles added that NDG Mobile Market™ will be exhibited at the National WIC conference, May 2-5, 2010, in Milwaukee, WI.

Apple is working on it’s own mobile P2P payment service for iPhone and iPad

UnwiredView.com

Apple has submitted a patent application for peer-to-peer financial transactions. Apple's patent application describes an iPhone app and service, that will allow iPhone owners to store all their credit card, bank/checking account and other info on the device, and to make quick personal and business transactions with a few taps.

Mobile micropayments through your smartphone is emerging, and, most likely, soon to become pretty hot category.
Nokia is looking  how to introduce mobile payments to developing world with it’s Money service. Meanwhile, startups like Square and established companies likeVeriFone are working on ways to bring personal mobile transactions to your iPhone, and, hopefully, any other smartphone you have in your pocket.
Well, those companies planning to make a living from their personal mobile payment iPhone app/accessory/service, better start thinking about other mobile platforms soon. Because Apple is actively eyeing personal mobile payments, as a market they want to have for themselves.
At least that’s what an Apple’s patent application called “Peer to peer financial transaction devices and methods”  indicates.
