TIO to Offer Mobile Bill Payment to Millions of Energy Customers in Northern and Central California



TIO enables energy customers to make bill payments on their iPhone using their credit/debit cards and bank accounts
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TIO Networks Corp., (TSX-V: TNC) (“TIO”), North America’s leading multi-channel expedited bill payment processor today announced that it is launching a mobile bill payment platform that will allow nearly six million energy customers in Northern and Central California to make bill payments by using their mobile phone.

TIO’s mobile payment platform enables consumers to make expedited payments from their smartphones. The mobile application will allow customers to make payments using their credit or debit cards facilitated with the help of Denver-based IPCommerce (www.ipcommerce.com), a leader in cloud computing payment applications. Customers will also be able to make payments using their bank accounts. It is expected that subsequent versions of the application will include payment types such as PayPal and other electronic payment systems.
Through a contract with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), TIO’s mobile bill payment services will be offered to energy customers throughout Northern and Central California.

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Following a record number of entries for the Cards and Payment Europe Awards 2010 (CPE2010), finalists from Russia, Turkey, China, USA and the UK have all won accolades at this prestigious industry event. The CPE2010 Awards was held last night in Madrid, Spain amid two days of keynote speaker addresses and seminars.

Topping two categories was Barclaycard who scooped top prize in the Best Innovation in a Loyalty Card Programme for its Freedom Card plusBarclaycard Commercial was named Best Commercial Credit Card Issuer. Freedom consumers gain rewards from spending at the Point of Sale (POS) and online with a seamless and direct redemption mechanism at the POS. The Barclaycard Commercial Visa CodeSure card combines a standard Visa corporate charge card with identity protection functionalities that ensure the integrity of transactions.
  • The Editor’s Award winner is SIA-SSB for its outstanding strategy and innovation. SIA-SSB has continued to refocus during the recession to become an all-round payment provider for all players involved in payments.

  • Best New Credit Card Product Launch was won by Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, American Express and Union Mobile Pay (China). The launch of the ICBC Mobile Payment American Express Card was the first Chinese dual currency credit card with mobile payment capabilities. 

  • Best Merger or Acquisition Deal went to Metavante-FIS. The acquisition of Metavante by Fidelity Information Services created a new global powerhouse in banking outsourcing, processing and platforms. Turkish bank Finansbank won 

  • Best New Debit Card Product Launch for Cardfinans Nakit, the world’s first debit card with instalment payment. 

  • O2’s prepaid card topped won Best New Prepaid Card Product Launch

  • Best New Co-Branded or Affinity Card Product Launch went to the social card of Bashkortostan - a multipurpose card aimed at citizens in the Republic of Bashkortostan giving them access to various privileges.

  • Best Card Processor Of The Year has been awarded to TSYS, 

  • Global Payments won Merchant Acquirer Of The Year and 

  • Obopay was Most Promising New Entrant.
