Ingenico Announces 2010-2013 Strategic Plan

Transforming Ingenico towards profitable growth:  Investor conference today at 2:30
  • - 2013 targeted revenue above 1 billion € with circa 40% of recurring revenue

  • - Revenue from transactions to be multiplied by 3 between 2009 (PF) and 2013

  • - EBITDA[1] > 18% of revenue in 2013

Neuilly-sur-Seine, 9 June, 2010, Ingenico (Euronext : FR0000125346 - ING), the leading worldwide provider of payment solutions, today announces its 2010-2013 strategic plan. The group will hold today at 2:30 pm CET in Paris an investor presentation that will focus on the current and future developments of the payment market and the execution of Ingenico's transformation plan.
With the successful integration of easycash, Ingenico is focused on maintaining its leadership in POS terminals while growing the transactions management and value-added services. This transformation should enable revenue to exceed 1 billion € in 2013. The Group's objective is to multiply revenue from transactions by 3 between 2009 and 2013. As a consequence, recurring revenue should represent circa 40% of total revenue in 2013 compared to 28% in 2009 pro forma. By 2013, EBITDA margin is expected to be above 18% of total revenue.
The evolution of payment ecosystem is driving strong opportunities:
The payment market is structurally growing with a continuous evolution towards electronic payments. Structural changes of the payment ecosystem are also driven by new expectations from consumers and merchants, the growth in emerging countries, the prominent regulation and changes in technology. New trends in shopping experience drive a shift towards offers that combine POS, online and mobile payments and for which the expertise of Ingenico in the complex payment ecosystem is a key differentiator.
Highlights of the 2010-2013 Strategic Plan:
  • 2013 revenue above 1 billion € is based on growth in all segments with increasing direct access to merchants, coming from POS to transaction management and value added services.

  • Revenue from transactions should triple in 2013 from €84 million in 2009 pro forma. This will be mainly driven by organic growth, the internationalization of the easycash business model outside Germany, and will be fuelled by focused acquisitions.

  • EBITDA margin is expected to be above 18% of revenue in 2013 based on further optimized costs of the POS activity combined with operating leverage allowed by transactions related revenues. Synergies from the Group combination with easycash should generate 12 million € incremental EBITDA in 2013.

Philippe Lazare, Chairman & CEO of Ingenico declared: "We are deploying our focused strategy for transformation towards services whilst consolidating our POS leadership. Ingenico is in a unique position to take advantage of a growing payment market. By combining organic growth, internationalization of our services, and focused acquisitions, we will expand recurring revenue contribution up to around 40% in 2013 with strong operating leverage. I am confident that we will deliver our 2013 targets and that we will provide significant value creation for our stakeholders thanks to the synergies between our business segments."
The full investor presentation will be available on Ingenico's web site as of 2:30 pm CET:http://www.ingenico.com/en/finance/publications/investors_presentations/.
Update on FY2010 performance:
Based on the current performance, the 2010 revenue is expected to be in the high end of our guidance (790 to 805 million €), with the EBITDA margin in the range of 16% to 17% of the 2010 revenue. This FY update takes into account H1 expectations. In H1 2010, revenue is expected to be above 380 million €, compared to 341 million € in 2009 pro forma. The operating margin rate should be comparable to H1 2009 pro forma. Without a one off event due to a component quality issue of some products of the former range, this margin rate would have been expected around 10% of the revenue. This isolated quality issue has been identified and dealt with.
H1, 2010 revenue and results will be reported on July 29, 2010, after the closing of Euronext Paris.

Fiserv Helps Financial Institutions with Reg E by Offering Overdraft Opt-In Programs

http://www.fiserv.comBROOKFIELD, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fiserv, Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV), the leading global provider of financial services technology solutions, recently unveiled its Regulation E Opt-In Optimization Programs to help its clients prepare for the regulation's July 1 deadline. These programs are in response to recent regulatory changes that require a consumer to opt-in before banks or credit unions can extend or continue to provide fee-based overdraft services for ATM and one-time debit card transactions. The Opt-In Optimization Programs employ thoughtful consumer segmentation; multi-channel and multi-contact outreach; assistance in obtaining consumer consent; mailing customers the opt-in confirmations; staff and consumer training; a secured database; and communications program reporting. These features are designed to help financial institutions maintain a good consumer experience as these changes are communicated and customer overdraft preferences are established, and potentially mitigate revenue losses.
“No small bank could have the expertise that Fiserv has. You are performing a great service.”
“With 20 to 50 percent of exception revenue at stake, financial institutions are facing challenges that extend beyond notification and confirmation requirements,” said Blake Williams, president, Revenue Enhancement Solutions, Fiserv. “Most financial institutions anticipate an opt-in rate of about 20 percent, but our research shows that number is more likely to be closer to 5 percent. To address this, banks and credit unions must develop and implement a well designed, high impact opt-in optimization program immediately.”
Early adopters of the Overdraft Opt-In Programs from Fiserv are pleased with initial results. Wisconsin-based Guardian Credit Union which recently launched their Overdraft Opt-In Program using Fiserv materials has already seen positive results. “So far we have received a 3-to-1 positive response rate and an 85 percent opt-in rate from our most valuable segment. I realize it is early in the roll-out and these metrics are only based on the first contact of a four-contact campaign, but I am extremely excited about our results so far,” said Christopher Plautz, vice president of Marketing and Facilities, Guardian Credit Union.
Based on proprietary research and feedback from consumer focus groups, Fiserv has designed Reg E Overdraft Service Opt-In Programs to assist financial institutions of all sizes. James B. Taylor, Jr. of Capital Bank based in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. has just implemented the self-directed deployment program. “No small bank could have the expertise that Fiserv has. You are performing a great service.”
The three-tiered program varies in complexity and level of support ranging from a self-directed deployment program to a full turnkey solution.
  • Option One: Reg E Deployment Program and Implementation Workshop: This option is a proactive and affordable option enabling financial institutions to rapidly meet compliance obligations and minimize revenue or consumer losses. A consultant-led online workshop provides the tools and guidance needed to minimize impacts of Reg E including an in-depth deployment guide created by Beavercreek Marketing, targeted messaging from national focus group findings, customer segmentation guidelines, a project plan template, recommended marketing collateral samples, and more -- all developed to manage an effective opt in program.

  • Option Two: Reg E Consulting and Opt In Outreach Support: A consultant-led engagement provides tools and guidance needed to minimize the impact of Reg E changes while managing a seamless and effective opt-in program. This option includes consulting services for portfolio segmentation and other data analytics, effective opt-in optimization recommendations, staff and consumer training, a project plan/deployment guide, consumer-focused collateral, and two fully customized consumer outreach direct mail campaigns.

  • Option Three: Reg E Outreach Complete: This option is a true turnkey Reg E Opt-In Optimization Program. Also a consultant led engagement, this program includes portfolio segmentation and other data analytics, opt-in optimization recommendations, staff and consumer training and a project plan/deployment guide. This multi-channel consumer contact program is specifically designed to assist financial institutions in launching the most effective consumer outreach program. Features include reaching the consumer via all of the channels in which they do business with the financial institution; obtaining the consumer affirmative consent; sending out opt-in confirmation letters; and housing all of the information in a secured database with the goal of achieving the highest percentage of opt-in consumer responses.

Regulation E (Reg E) was issued by the Federal Reserve as part of the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) Act, which establishes the basic rights and responsibilities of consumers using EFT services and of financial institutions offering these services. Beginning this summer, The Federal Reserve will require consumers to opt-in to the financial institution’s overdraft service for ATM and one-time debit card transactions, before the financial institution can assess overdraft fees for the service.

Kaspersky Reports on Information Security Threats in the First Quarter of 2010

This report was compiled on the basis of data obtained and processed using the Kaspersky Security Network (KSN). KSN is one of the most important innovations in personal products and is currently in the final stages of development. Once completed, it will become an integral feature of Kaspersky Lab's corporate product range.

The Quarter in Review

  • A total of 327,598,028 attempts to infect users’ computers in different countries around the world were recorded — that's 26.8% more than in the previous quarter.

  • The vector of attack employed by the cybercriminals is changing: the percentage of attacks that targeted Chinese users dropped by 13%.

  • The most dominant malware family on the Internet utilizes HTML code or scripts that the cybercriminals primarily use to infect legitimate sites.

  • A total of 119,674,973 malicious host servers were identified. The US and Russia were both ahead of China in terms of the number of malicious hosting servers.

  • Detected vulnerabilities increased by 6.9% from the previous quarter. Six of the ten most common vulnerabilities found were in Microsoft products.

  • The number of exploits increased 21.3%. Roughly fifty percent of all exploits take advantage of vulnerabilities in Adobe programs due to the fact that Adobe’s programs are widespread and can be run on a number of different platforms.

  • Almost any device that synchronizes with a computer is used by the cybercriminals as a carrier of malware these days. The most unusual of which has so far been a USB charger for Energizer batteries.

Ten Ways Online Businesses Can Fight Credit Card Fraud...only One Way to Eliminate It...

Editor's Note:  I saw this come through the press wires and while the information (the 10 tips) is good, it doesn't solve the main problem.  The main problem is highlighted below.  To solve the problem (online criminals using the web to harvest credit card information) we have to change the way we purchase goods online.  We are enabling them and that "enabler" is the practice of typing card numbers into boxes on an eCommerce checkout site.   If we stopped typing altogether, and started swiping (and end to end encrypting the data)  that would go a long way towards solving the problem.  I know I sound like a broken record but I don't see anything that has occurred over the last three years that makes me change my tune.

SUNRISE, Fla.
, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- With increasing concern over privacy of information online - especially in the wake of Facebook's recent policy changes -
consumers and businesses alike are taking a closer look at not only privacy, but safety and security of online transactions.

To date, much of the focus has been on consumers as the victims of credit card fraud. However, according to Sean Wolf, CEO and founder of National Merchant Bancard, a vast majority of online businesses are affected by it. In fact, credit card fraud is one of the most serious risks facing online businesses today.
"Many online criminals use the web to harvest credit card information," warns Wolf, "by sending out mass emails designed to mimic those that customers might receive from their banks. They trick people into giving up credit card information. Thieves use this information to place orders online."
It's business as usual, and the products are shipped out. The charges are then disputed by the real credit card holder, forcing the business to either issue a prompt refund, or risk losing its credit card processing account and ruining its credit. "In short," says Wolf, "the business owner takes the loss." Unfortunately, credit card fraud is something that can never be entirely eliminated. Business owners must weigh the importance of using safeguards to prevent fraud, against the negatives of creating too many hoops for customers to jump through.
Wolf says online merchants can minimize the risk of credit card fraud by implementing these 10 best practices:
  • Require address verification

  • Only ship items to the credit card billing address

  • Do not accept orders for products from credit cards issued by non-U.S. banks

  • Require customers to enter their CVV2 number, located on the back of the credit card

  • Capture the IP address of every customer (The IP address can indicate that a customer is placing an order from a location other than the shipping address

Or you could have your customers swipe their card and enter their PIN

replicating the same process used by brick and mortar retailers.
  • Require delivery tracking and signature

  • Phone the customer to verify the order if necessary

  • Be wary of any customer attempting to use multiple credit cards for any one transaction

  • Watch for multiple orders shipping to the same address, but using different credit cards

  • Make sure the customer's phone number is in an area code which corresponds to the credit card billing address

Wolf says businesses also can avoid costly credit card fraud by using a secure credit processing system. National Merchant Bancard's web-based terminal is a server-based transaction processing system that enables approved businesses to authorize, process and manage credit card and electronic check transactions via a secure Internet connection. This terminal is compatible with the majority of online shopping carts and software-related companies. National Merchant Bancard has direct relationships with several of the largest processing networks in the industry, including First Data, Paymentech and Global Processing Inc. The company's partnerships allow it to be compatible with almost every platform in the industry.

“From our 10 years in the mobile payment industry we have learned that mobile payment revenues can be significant - especially in emerging markets where classic means of payment are not really widespread,” says Kolja Reiss, Managing Director of Palo Alto-based mopay Inc. “Central and South America are among the fastest-growing mobile telecommunication markets in the world. By covering 81 percent of the Latin America population, mopay enables merchants to monetize their consumers by offering the most common, instantly available payment method in Central and South America.”
