Trusteer Takes Top Honor at 2010 SC Awards, Europe

Rappport Heralded as Leading Solution for Securing Browser Communication from Keyboard to Website

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Trusteer, the market’s leading provider of secure browsing services, today announced that it has been named “Best Secure Transactions Solution” in the 2010 SC Awards Europe competition. Trusteer took top honors for Rapport, a lightweight browser solution supported by 24x7 security analysis and reporting services

For more than 30 years, SC Magazine has held one of the most prestigious and coveted awards in the European information security industry. These awards honor professionals working to secure enterprises and the vendor and channel communities that deliver the most innovative security technologies. For 2010, the judges have declared that Rapport is the best of the best when it comes to securing transactions.
“As the volume and frequency of online transactions continues to grow – unfortunately – so does the sophistication of malware designed to disrupt these transactions,” said Mickey Boodaei, CEO of Trusteer. “Rapport goes above and beyond what traditional security products can accomplish. Unlike solutions which rely on strong authentication, transaction verification and transaction monitoring, Rapport actually protects the data itself – securing Web sessions from start to finish. We’re honored that the industry experts at SC Magazine have chosen to recognize Trusteer for our vision and market leadership.”

Rapport is specifically designed to block financial malware on a machine from hijacking Web browser sessions and transactions, stealing sensitive data such as account credentials and using them to commit online fraud. It creates a vault around data entered and presented in the browser, maintains a tunnel for safe communication with the destination Web site and prevents redirection to look-alike Web sites. The end result for website users is a dramatic reduction in fraud and improved confidence in Web banking, while Rapport provides comprehensive fraud fighting intelligence to financial institutions.

Rapport includes a lightweight browser security solution and cloud-based analysis and reporting services. It is offered for download by online businesses such as banks and also to individuals via Trusteer’s Web site. The solution can be installed in-flow when a customer visits the online business Web site. This one-time process takes only a few seconds.

Award winners were notified at a special ceremony hosted by SC Magazine on Tuesday, April 27 at the Wyndham Grand London, Chelsea Harbour. For more information on the awards and ceremony, please visit http://www.scawardseurope.com/homepage.html

Entrust Brings Strong Authentication to Mobile Devices - Versatile Authentication Platform Secures Consumer and Enterprise Environments

Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile enables strong enterprise authentication while protecting against latest malware threats

DALLAS
April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- No matter the type, size or vertical focus of an organization, Entrust, Inc. secures identities with one of the broadest ranges of authentication options on the market today - and all from a single strong authentication platform. With the newest release of Entrust IdentityGuard, Entrust will add the innovative Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile application, which seamlessly authenticates consumer, corporate or enterprise users using many of today's most popular smartphones.

"The consistent value of this proven platform remains its versatility and cost-effectiveness," said Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner. "We continue to add new strong authentication methods to Entrust IdentityGuard, with a focus on ease of deployment and use in any environment. And the addition of Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile places yet another proven authenticator on a device end-users already use as part of their everyday life."
Entrust IdentityGuard - Easy to Use
From transparent device authentication, unique grids cards to innovative means of leveraging smartphones for strong authentication, the newest release of Entrust IdentityGuard expands on its foundation of offering the most efficient, easy-to-use authentication methods on the market today. The platform approach allows the deployment of different authenticators based on unique requirements, increasing user acceptance and reducing usability impact.
"A good authentication method will be sufficiently easy to use that it will be accepted by users as part of the tasks they perform: The easier the method, the more likely they will acknowledge it as a part of doing business - and not seek to bypass it," said Ant Allan in a December 2009 Gartner report.(1)
Smart Authentication for your Smartphone
A key addition to the Entrust IdentityGuard versatile authentication platform, Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile is an innovative new mobile identity application that allows organizations to strongly authenticate customers, partners and enterprise users via a smartphone device. Whether for consumer, government or enterprise environments, Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile represents a cost-effective, easy-to-use approach for authenticating any end-user.
Leveraging secure out-of-band techniques, and without requiring any specialized hardware, Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile provides unique capabilities to help defeat the latest malware threat affecting online-banking users - man-in-the-browser. And while it's proven to do just that, it is equally effective as a strong authentication capability for enterprise VPN access, Web portal access or corporate desktop security. Helpful options include the ability to store and save transaction history, as well as enabling deploying organizations to easily incorporate their brand into the application.
Identities in the Enterprise
Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile provides strong authentication that easily fits into the enterprise, including support for remote access, Web, and desktop strong authentication for enterprise and government initiatives. The smartphone application can manage multiple identities on a single device, making it one of the most versatile and easy-to-use soft tokens available on the market today.
Entrust Stops Man-in-the-Browser
Coupled with Entrust's proven fraud detection platform, Entrust IdentityGuard helps enable three highly deployable and effective capabilities for thwarting man-in-the-browser malware - behavioral and transactional fraud detection; SMS authentication with transaction details; and mobile out-of-band transaction verification and signature.
Without requiring any specialized hardware, Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile securely provides one-time-passcode authentication in combination with seamless out-of-band delivery of transaction details. This combination helps defend against man-in-the-browser malware - efficiently and without user inconvenience.
Popular Mobile Platforms
Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile is designed to operate with today's leading smartphone platforms, including the Apple iPhone, RIM BlackBerry, Microsoft Windows Mobile and Symbian (Java). The new mobile authenticator will be available in summer 2010 as part of the release of Entrust IdentityGuard 9.3.
Most Authenticators, Single Solution
Entrust enables organizations to layer security - according to access requirements or the risk of a given transaction - across diverse users and applications. Entrust's authentication capabilities include username and password, IP-geolocation, device, questions and answers, out-of-band one-time passcode (delivered via voice, SMS or e-mail), grid and eGrid cards, digital certificates (in software or on smart cards/USB Tokens) and a range of one-time-passcode tokens, including Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile. Moneris Solutions' Quarterly Report Reveals Canadian Retail Bright Spots With Hardware Stores and Contractors Driving Growth During Winter 2010

Moneris Solutions CorporationMerchants Boldly Bounce Back From a Slow Year and Find New Ways to Bring in Shoppers

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 28, 2010) -
Quarterly spending results released today by Moneris Solutions, Canada's largest debit and credit card processor, reveal that hardware stores, contractors and home furnishing stores were the big winners during the first three months of 2010, particularly leading up to the federal government's deadline for receiving the Home Renovation Tax Credit. Moneris Solutions' quarterly outlook examined national consumer spending for January, February and March 2010 and compared it to the same period last year.

"The first quarter of 2010 was very positive, with many retailers seeing an increase in consumer spending coinciding with government incentives and favourable weather," said David Ades, Senior Vice President, Moneris Solutions. "Businesses were ready to bounce back from the recession and consumers clearly were ready to spend again. As we head into the second quarter, merchants are continuing to find ways to entice customers into their stores, including tempting advertising, innovative holiday promotions, and processing credit and debit card transactions quickly and efficiently."
Traditionally, January is the slowest spending month for sales as consumers curb their December shopping sprees. But in January 2010, retail spending jumped 6% compared to the previous year, with hardware stores and contractor services proving the most lucrative during the quarter leading up to the Home Renovation Tax Credit's February 1st deadline. In January 2010 alone, hardware stores saw a 29% increase in transactions while contractors saw their business jump by 20% compared to the same month last year.
Canadians spent 16% more during the February 12-16, 2010 weekend compared to Family Day Weekend 2009. The increase shows that business owners were ready to meet the needs of consumers during the converging holidays of Family Day, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day in February 2010.
Hardware stores and contractors continued to capitalize on consumers' willingness to spend on home improvements throughout the quarter, achieving 12% and 13% spending increases, respectively, in March 2010 compared to March 2009. Interestingly, home furnishing stores increased transactions by 21% in March 2010.
Spending also adjusted to the weather, with hardware stores and contractors remaining busy during milder temperatures and consumers handing bicycle shops their business to ready themselves for spring.
Other highlights of the Moneris Solutions quarterly report include:
  • Warmer weather in some parts of Canada had consumers thinking about outdoor activities earlier this year, with bicycles shops processing 36% more transactions in March 2010 than they did during the colder March days last year.

  • The Maritimes saw the greatest quarter-over-quarter increase. Prince Edward Island led the way with a 19% increase in spending and a 5% increase in the number of transactions year over year.

Moneris' Q1 2010 spending data compared national retail sales during January 1 – March 31, 2010 with the same period the previous year. The data covers all merchant categories (excluding gas merchants since gas volumes fluctuate according to gas prices) and tallies the dollar value as well as the number of transactions made on Moneris debit and credit card terminals across the country.
About Moneris Solutions
As one of North America's largest providers of payment processing solutions, Moneris offers credit, debit, wireless and online payment services for merchants in virtually every industry segment and processes more than three billion transactions annually. Through its Ernex division, Moneris offers electronic loyalty and stored-value gift card programs.
