NFC, Digital Wallets, And The Future Of Payments - Forrester

Web1 new result for NFC Mobile Payment
NFC, Digital Wallets, And The Future Of Payments - Forrester ...

"The key long-term driver for NFC technology is that it can enable many new product and service experiences beyond just mobile contactless payments.
Editors note: I agree that NFC is much more than payments and I maintain that the most important aspect of NFC is going to be authentication.  We just saw Apple buy AuthenTec for that "very reason."  So, who will win the Authentication battle?  Might I suggest that NFC Data, holder of the V-SIM Patent (which covers ANY authentication done "outside the SIM card") recognized that NOTHING happens without first authenticating the user.  After all, NFC opens a lot of doors and the key to opening said doors relies on authentication...  See more on the V-SIM Patent below:

MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES THAT DRIVE SALES

Tools And Technology: The Mobile eBusiness Playbook

WHY READ THIS REPORT

New phone features and capabilities are cropping up seemingly by the day. At the same time, this fast-paced change is dramatically affecting how eBusiness professionals interact with their teams and customers every day. New use cases seem to be limited only by the ability to think them up. Thus, navigating the landscape of mobile technologies and the vendors that serve them is and will be challenging in the near term. While keeping in mind the strategic approach to incorporating mobile into a broader customer engagement strategy, eBusiness professionals must weigh the appropriateness of any technology based on its fit to the objectives outlined for target customers. This report outlines the tools and technologies for eBusiness and channel strategy executives working on their mobile eBusiness strategy and is designed to provide guidance in the use of mobile technologies to increase customer value. This report is an update to the report of the same name originally published on May 16, 2012.

TapBase Introduces TapPay and TapWallet Mobile Applications for the iPhone

TapBase introduces a different approach to mobile billing and payments with its TapPay and TapWallet apps.

  • Share on TwitterShare on FacebookShare on Google+Share on LinkedInEmail a friend
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) August 09, 2012
TapBase has announced the official release of its TapPay and TapWallet mobile applications for the iPhone as key elements of its Tap mobile payments, loyalty and rewards platform. “After a significant development and testing effort, we’re very pleased to offer merchants and consumers a feature-rich mobile payments billing and payment solution”, reported CEO, Robert Mallett.
“Although there are a number of mobile payment solutions now available in the marketplace, our system mitigates some of the risks inherent in performing payment transactions away from the traditional bricks-and-mortar retail store. For example, a customer can request a bill be sent to their own device; the customer can then complete the transaction without having to directly share sensitive credit card data with the merchant.”
The TapPay application was designed and developed with significant input from small businesses and the functionality extends far beyond the payment processing available from existing mobile payment systems. For example, merchants can use the integrated barcode scanner to manage a mobile database of products and services; items can be instantly called up and added to a mobile shopping cart where discounts, miscellaneous charges and/or tips can be applied. Using an optional magnetic-stripe reader, credit and debit cards can be swiped or a bill can be sent directly to a customer’s smartphone.
The TapWallet application allows consumers to securely store and carry payment card information as well as loyalty and membership cards. When a bill arrives, the customer selects a payment card, signs the transaction on their phone and authorizes the payment.    Within seconds, the merchant is notified that the transaction is complete and is provided with a copy of the receipt. This innovative system is fast, easy and convenient for both the consumer and merchant.
TapBase plans to offer Android versions of the apps and launch further components of its platform in Q4, 2012. This will include the ability for merchants to issue their own virtual pre-paid and gift cards using QR codes and NFC technology. Additionally, merchants may offer rewards to customers in the form of TapPoints – a virtual currency offered only on the Tap Platform.
TapBase LLC was founded by a team of experienced professionals with backgrounds in banking, smart cards, wireless and information technology. The company is an angel-funded startup based in the San Francisco bay area.

VeriFone Selected for Contactless Payment Rollout in Mexico City

First Major Contactless Project in Mexico Utilizes VeriFone VX 520 and VX 820 Payment Solutions
SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--VeriFone Systems, Inc. (NYSE: PAY), will provide the merchant payment solutions in the initial phase of the first major contactless payment rollout in Mexico City by the Mexican bank Banamex, which begins today.
“VeriFone is a key enabler in this electronic payment experience in Banamex, which will provide consumers and merchants with an easier, more convenient way of payment.”
Banamex, part of Grupo Financiero Banamex and a member of Citi, is implementing a full-scale contactless payment deployment. In the first phase, several thousand VeriFone contactless-enabled card acceptance systems will be deployed to 1,900 merchants in the Mexico City metropolitan area. The bank is also issuing 100,000 contactless credit and debit cards to begin the transition to the new innovative way of payment.
The bank will deploy the VeriFone VX 520 to merchants who use traditional standalone countertop systems, and the VX 820 advance PIN pad to larger retailers that integrate payment systems to electronic cash register systems.
“VeriFone is the natural choice to provide the merchant acceptance solutions, based on its leading technology and experience in Mexico,” said VeriFone Country Manager Erick Lopez Sanchez. “VeriFone is a key enabler in this electronic payment experience in Banamex, which will provide consumers and merchants with an easier, more convenient way of payment.”
By end of 2012, the bank expects to have issued 1 million contactless cards and to have deployed 12,000 payment acceptance systems. For purchases of less than 250 pesos (approx. US$15), contactless payments will require no signatures, resulting in quick service in locales such as fast food restaurants, bookstores, pharmacies, magazine stands and other types of businesses.
