DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Research and Markets has announced the addition of eMarketer's new report "Online Holiday Sales Forecast: Optimism Is in the Air" to their offering.
Growth forecasts of total retail sales (the vast majority of which are in-store) are in the range of 2% to 3.5%, making this the best holiday season for retailers since 2006. Consumers will open their wallets a little more this year, but they will also remain value-driven and highly price-conscious.US online holiday season sales will reach $38.5 billion (excluding travel) in 2010, up 14.3% over 2009. This will be the second straight year of double-digit growth after online sales plunged 7.9% during the 2008 holiday season.
The divergent fortunes of online and brick-and-mortar stores are magnified during the holiday shopping season. Consumers seeking convenience, selection and great deals are shifting a larger share of their purchases to the internet, especially to cope with difficult economic times.
