LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cards International, leading provider of analysis, insight and intelligence to cards, payments and consumer finance professionals, has today revealed the finalists for its Cards International Awards 2011.
“It was tough to choose the finalists this year, but there are some stand-outs that are very deserving of recognition. We have some very innovative contenders who are genuinely trying to make a difference and shape the future of the industry. I’m excited to see who wins on the night.”
2011 will see the ‘Editor’s Award’ going to a company that has demonstrated outstanding customer focus, with finalists eWise, Marks & Spencer, MBNA and Tapiola fighting to prove that their offering is the most customer friendly.
The rest of this year’s line-up highlights a number of key industry players, such as MasterCard, Amex, and newer entrants like Facebook, while some of last year’s winners, Barclaycard and Global Payments, are fighting it out to retain their titles. It also shows that last year’s winner of Best Merger & Acquisition for 2010, following Metavante’s acquisition of FIS, has been a success story for 2011, with FIS being nominated for Best Card Processor of the Year.

Finalists were nominated by Cards International and Electronic Payments International readers, and a panel of five judges will select the winners. Successful nominees will demonstrate outstanding success in areas such as: customer focus, unique offering, marketing and technological strategies, innovation, service and sales. Nominees have been chosen from 11 categories, including:

- Best Prepaid Product
- Best New Co-branded Affinity or Loyalty Product
- Best Innovation or Cross-Industry Innovation
- Commercial Card Issuer
- Best Card Processor of the Year

- Most Promising New Entrant
- Best Merger & Acquisition
The winner’s will be announced at the Gala Awards Dinner following VRL Financial News' upcoming Cards & Payments Europe 2011 Conference on 21 June at the Westin Grand Frankfurt, Germany, which is being held alongside Gold sponsors MasterCard Worldwide and SIA, and sponsors Bluerock and First Annapolis.
