ACS Awarded Contract to Process Child Support Payments in Pennsylvania

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS), a Xerox Company (NYSE: XRX), will continue a decade-long relationship with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to process child support payments. The state has awarded ACS an eight-year contract renewal consisting of a six-year base and two optional one-year extensions, and is valued at $61 million if all option years are exercised.

Since 1999, ACS has operated the State Collection and Disbursement Unit (SCDU) for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare, Bureau of Child Support Enforcement, providing services including receiving and distributing payments from non-custodial parents, customer service and technical support. Child support recipients have the option of receiving payments by direct deposit or the Pennsylvania EPPICard, a debit card implemented by ACS that saves the state more than $3 million annually in postage and processing.

ACS is a leader in the field of child support services, providing solutions in 15 states and processing half of the nation’s child support payments, more than $13 billion annually. ACS’ proprietary technology used in Pennsylvania helps ensure accurate transaction processing and service.

“The opportunity to continue our service is a testament to the value this program provides to recipients. Our work for the Department of Welfare is a showcase of how innovation and expertise can help transform the way government conducts business,” said Joseph Doherty, executive vice president and group president, ACS Government Solutions. “We’ll continue our efforts to ensure that the state has a high-performing program.”

As the largest provider of business process solutions and one of the largest information technology service providers to the nation’s public sector, ACS serves as an operational partner to more than 1,700 government agencies on the federal, state, county and local level.

The work of ACS touches millions of people every day. ACS manages 27 electronic payment card programs for state and federal clients, disbursing government payments and benefits; processes nearly 570 million Medicaid claims each year totaling more than $50 billion in provider payments; saves state child care programs millions of dollars; services student loans for more than 11 million borrowers; and facilitates more than 75 million online searches for unclaimed property per year.
