One of the First Major U.S. Financial Institutions to Support Four of the Most Popular Smartphone Platforms
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) today announced the launch of new mobile banking applications for AndroidTM, BlackBerry®, and Palm. These additions to its existing portfolio expand Wells Fargo's mobile banking applications to four and provides customers with more choice in how they bank.
“Our goal is to make it even more convenient for customers to access their account information – anytime, anywhere – helping them save time and providing peace-of-mind. Wells Fargo Mobile Banking makes it fast, easy, and secure for customers to stay in touch with their finances.”
"We are listening and responding to our customers by broadening our mobile banking services," said Arah Erickson, head of Wells Fargo Retail Mobile Banking. "Our goal is to make it even more convenient for customers to access their account information – anytime, anywhere – helping them save time and providing peace-of-mind. Wells Fargo Mobile Banking makes it fast, easy, and secure for customers to stay in touch with their finances.”
Customers may choose the Mobile Banking services that best suit their needs from a menu of options on Wells Fargo's newly expanded Mobile Banking Resource Center: https://www.wellsfargo.com/mobile/.
Downloadable Mobile Banking Applications ("Apps")
In addition to Wells Fargo's existing mobile banking app, the three new Wells Fargo Mobile Banking apps are available via the Android Market on Android-powered devices; Palm App Catalog for Palm devices, and a BlackBerry app is available from wf.com for BlackBerry smartphones.
Through Wells Fargo's Mobile Banking applications, customers can access their current available account balances*, transaction history, and credit card payment information. Customers can also securely transfer funds to their other accounts or to other Wells Fargo customers and pay bills.
Wells Fargo Mobile Banking is integrated with each smartphone's built in GPS (Global Positioning System) feature so customers can search for the nearest ATM or Wells Fargo banking store with the touch of a button.
In addition, customers can receive alerts on their mobile devices.
Text Banking (to short-code 93557)
In an announcement earlier this year, Wells Fargo became the first major U.S. financial institution to enable all customers to manage their accounts through Text Banking, even those who do not bank online.
Now, customers may receive an offer to enroll in Text Banking while at a Wells Fargo ATM. After confirming their mobile phone number or entering a new one on the ATM keypad, customers will receive a "welcome" text message with instructions on how to use Text Banking. Once enrolled, customers send a simple text command to short-code 93557, such as "BAL ALL," to receive their current available balances,* or "ATM," to locate the nearest Wells Fargo ATM. Customers can always enroll in Text Banking by visiting wf.com/text on their mobile device.
The Text Banking service enables customers to view account activity, view credit card payment information, find nearby ATM locations, and more. It's another way for customers to get a snapshot of their account information, anytime, anywhere.
“Wells Fargo wants to be where our customers are,” said Erickson. “However they prefer to bank on the go, whether through apps, text, or our mobile web site, we are there for them. In addition, access to account information while on the go provides customers with added confidence when it comes to fraud prevention and detection. Mobile banking allows customers to review their accounts for unusual activity anytime, and take quick action if necessary."
