ERIE, PA--(Marketwire - July 1, 2010) - "The final mile is being built right now," stated Bill Catania, CEO of M-Dot Network, at the recent Mobile Marketing Forum in New York City.
According to Catania, technologies are emerging to bridge the gap between mobile coupon providers and retailers. While traditional retailers have been leery of integrating mobile couponing into their marketing mix, new services called digital incentive networks are ready to support it.
According to Catania, technologies are emerging to bridge the gap between mobile coupon providers and retailers. While traditional retailers have been leery of integrating mobile couponing into their marketing mix, new services called digital incentive networks are ready to support it.
Historically, retailers have often experienced difficulties because their Point of Sale infrastructure has not been developed to support the redemption of digital or mobile coupons. This has slowed the mobile couponing industry, and led to problems like the need to manually integrate with loyalty card programs, the inability to validate offers in real time, fraud, delays and confusion at checkout.
"M-Dot Network will release the industry's very first Point of Sale (POS) base code integrations in July 2010, via two of the leading POS companies," said Catania. The application is seamlessly integrated on POS base code; retailers don't have to create any custom code or integration points whatsoever. "The M-Dot Network is a critical new set of 'rails' for retailers that offer a complete pathway from promotion issuance to redemption, audit and fulfillment of digital offers."
M-Dot Network enables the successful execution of mobile coupon programs from targeting, content creation and delivery to the redemption, settlement and analytics of coupons at the point of sale. M-Dot Network offers a secure, real-time transaction network connecting Mobile and Internet based applications to retail Point of Sale (POS) systems, known as "the final mile" in closing the loop for digital promotions.
According to Catania, the new network will also synergize with shopper card and loyalty programs, which enjoy growing popularity in the retail industry. Plus, no new hardware is required for retailers to access and use the network.
Jeffrey Toewe, EVP of Content at M-Dot Network said, "The entire mobile industry has been extremely limited in its ability to offer truly scalable, redeemable mobile coupons because of POS limitations; we offer the first truly integrated, POS-vendor-supported digital couponing solution. For retailers and marketers alike, this is a significant development."
M-Dot Network, a retail technology company, provides retailers with an enterprise platform to manage their digital coupons and incentives. The M-Dot Network connects retailers, digital coupon issuers and shoppers, eliminating paper coupons, speeding up check-out lines, expediting the reimbursement of coupons to retailers and reducing coupon fraud. M-Dot's digital transaction network provides real-time connectivity between Internet and mobile based technologies to in-store point of sale systems for the purpose of enabling real-time redemption of digital coupons and incentives. The M-Dot Network utilizes existing in-store systems with no need for additional in-store hardware or infrastructure.
